Reduction of leaks in air conditioning systems

Ventilation and air conditioning systems are generally faced with the challenge of maintaining a very high level of airtightness. A lack of airtightness causes leaks, which lead to efficiency losses in the overall system. Leaks can occur at various points: At the heat recovery in the housing or at the duct system.

If the enclosure dimensions are very large, particular attention must be paid to stability. This is usually no problem with closed enclosures. One of our customers from the building services sector had the requirement that the cover of the enclosure should be removable in order to have better access to the inside. To ensure that the necessary statics are still guaranteed, various metal sheets were foamed into the lid. This gives the EPP housing greater strength. The lid presses onto the housing with such dimensional stability that no bending can occur and leakage is reduced.

Another request from our customer was to be able to install the central ventilation unit in different positions at the consumer. Depending on the final orientation of the device, condensation will accumulate in different places inside the housing. The surface of the EPP was therefore designed at the relevant points so that condensation can be absorbed and discharged via a NOVAfeed&fix® connection.
