Reducing leaks in RLT systems

News (en)

Building ventilation systems (RLT systems) generally face the challenge of keeping airtightness very high. A lack of airtightness causes leaks, which lead to efficiency losses throughout the entire system. Leaks can occur at various locations: in the heat recovery unit in the casing or on the canal system.

If the casing dimensions are very large, particular attention has to be paid to stability. This is mostly achievable without problem for closed casings. One of our customers from the building technology branch wanted the cover of the casing to be removable in order to get better access to the inside. So that the required structure remains guaranteed, however, various panels were foamed into the cover. This made the EPP casing stronger. As a result, the cover presses stably against the casing so that it cannot bend and leakage is reduced.

Another request from our customer was to be able to install the central ventilation unit in different positions at the consumer's. Depending on the final alignment of the unit, condensation occurs at different places inside the casing. At the corresponding places, the surface of the EPP has therefore been designed such that condensation can be collected and drained via a NOVAfeed&fix® connection.
