Packaging for the Deskjet Printer 5655

Task:

  • To minimise handling intensity, by rapidly fixing the packaging to the product while keeping pace with the cycle time assembly line
  • optimal cost/performance ratio
  • the printers are sensitive to dust and moisture and need to be protected from them

Steps towards problem-solving:

  • development of packaging that reaches a specified acceleration limit during vertical shock tests
  • comprehensive protection by two EPS half shells
  • until assembly both half shells are connected by a predetermined breaking point
  • this prevents any confusion between the right and left halves of the EPS shell

Usefulness of the solution:

  • recesses in the packaging accomodate printing cartridges
  • the use of the EPS half shells means that the assembly line can be highly automated
  • EPS is 100% recyclable
  • easy to stack
  • reduces freight costs
EPS packaging supports the presentation of the company’s products and increases sales success
