Description: EPP-container for finished trim strips
Measurements: 1200 x 130 x 78 mm
Material: Outer shell EPP density 60 g/l, inner grid EPP density 25 g/l Task: - easily-scratched trim strips to be transported in a container without damage from friction
- The inner seating for the strips has to have a softer density than the outer shell
- However, the seatings are not to be stuck in separately with adhesive, but cast in the mould together with the shell
Steps towards problem-solving: Development of an innovative mould technique enabling the simultaneous casting of two different foam densities in one container Special feature: - processing of two different densities in one mould
- outer shell with a density of 60 g/l
- inner grids (fused with outer shell) with a density of 25 g/l
Usefulness of the solution: - using the “hard shell – soft interior” principle extremely sensitive components can be transported
- production in one process
- no additional handling, as no soft foam has to be stuck in with adhesive
- containers cost less than when the EPE interior grids were added afterwards
